Day Journey To The Richmond Metro Zoo
On Saturday we took the kiddos to the Richmond Metro Zoo for the day! Right here’s a recap of the animals we noticed and the way we deliberate our go to!
Our Day Journey To The Richmond Metro Zoo
We went again to Richmond on Saturday – this time with the children to go to the Richmond Zoo! We couldn’t have had extra good late spring climate, and the children had a complete blast!
This was really my second go to – I took Mazen years in the past on a chilly, wet morning when he was Birch’s age!
Tickets + Arrival
We purchased tickets on-line (complete of $67 for the 4 of us) for a 9:45 a.m. entrance time. We left Charlottesville round 8:30 and made the journey in about an hour and quarter-hour.
Parking was free and straightforward, however we discovered fairly an extended line to enter. (Not a lot social distancing both, so all of us put our masks again on.)
We’re “up and at ’em” varieties and prefer to get an early begin, and we have been so glad as a result of as we have been leaving at 1 p.m. the crowds have been pouring in!! TIP: go early!
The Richmond Zoo is sufficiently small that you simply get a extra intimate expertise however additionally they have all kinds of animals! The one two animals I can consider that they didn’t have have been gorillas and elephants.
Birch was slightly uncertain at first…
However then he warmed up once we noticed two bears wrestling!
We noticed lions and tigers and the bears.
The boys even liked seeing the entire wild turtles swimming within the chimp space : )
This fella was howling at us!
The up shut and private with these rhinos – wonderful!
Feed the Animals
You should buy meals to feed a few of the animals from little cups or your fingers. That tremendous lengthy tongue…giraffes are so humorous!
Mazen liked the aviary!
We noticed wolves, deer, camels, and buffalo.
I researched meals forward of time and knew a picnic could be our most well-liked eating. I used to be SO appreciative that outdoors meals was allowed. So many parks don’t allow you to convey something in. We noticed a lot of different households having fun with picnics, too.
Thomas and I had turkey + cheese sandwiches, and Birch had a PB&J. We shared pretzels, path combine, and veggie straws. And Mazen the 8-year-old purchased a scorching canine and fries (!).
There are 4 rides, together with a ski carry throughout the park and a safari prepare. The rides required additional tickets and had lengthy traces. We gauged the children’ curiosity and since they didn’t appear to care both approach in regards to the rides, we determined to skip them.
We did watch a number of folks on the above-the-zoo zip line journey known as the Treetop Zoofari, and that may be one thing to return again for! The zip traces go from tree to tree over the entire park.
We liked the hippos <3
I feel they have been a mom + child pair snoozing collectively.
(Thomas was there – I promise! Simply by no means took his pic 😎 )
We had such an amazing day!!
